Will Smith lost his calm and hit the presenter Chris Rock at the Oscar Telecast. Chris Rock joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s haircut and said: “Jada, I Love You, G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it!” However, this joke didn’t go pretty well with the actor Will Smith and he came up on the stage and strike Rock. Even after going back to his seat, Smith shouted twice,” KEEP MY WIFE’S NAME OUT OF YOUR F***** Mouth!”. To this, Rock responded: Oh Wow and also said the night to be the greatest one in the history of television. These days lot of things are scripted in award nights but this incident didn’t look scripted.
Jada Pinkett Smith has openly said many times that she suffers from alopecia which is a condition in which there is severe hair loss. However, this entire incident has been censored by ABC for Tv telecast but this happened at the Oscars.
Post this incident Sean “Diddy” Combs took in charge of the stage and said Smith and Rock that they will resolve this incident “like family” later on. Around 40 minutes after this whole incident, Will Smith came on to the stage to accept the best actor Oscar award for the “King Richard”.
In his speech, firstly he apologized to the academy and the fellow nominees for the incident without taking Rock’s name. He was teary eyes while giving the award acceptance speech and said that Richard Williams “was a fierce defender of his family.” He also said that in the movie business one should be able to take abuse and let people talk about you. He also said that in this business you have to just smile and be ok even if a person disrespects you. Smith winded up his Oscar win speech by saying that he hopes that the Academy welcomes him back.
