Just as the cases were beginning to fall and the dealt variant spread was easing out, The United States hit its highest death rate with death cases surpassing about 700,000. According to a report by Johns Hopkins University, this figure comes after 108 days since the States reached its 600,000 deaths owing to the pandemic.

While there’s been some relief in hospitals and for the medical fraternity considering the decrease in the spread, it’s still a grim time because of the large mass which is still unvaccinated and the delta variant being extremely transmissible.

The report surfaces a horrid fact that the pandemic deaths in America continue to be highest in the world, followed by Brazil recording more than 597,000 deaths and India reporting around 448,000 Covid-19 deaths.

These numbers raise huge concerns for the public health leaders, medical fraternities and the public as well because while vaccines have been made available in abundance across the country, there are still people who are hesitant on getting themselves vaccinated. It’s believed that around 70 million Americans remain unvaccinated, something that can prove to be life-threatening for many and be fatal for some.

The government’s foremost infectious disease specialist Dr Anthony Fauci expressed his concern over the unvaccinated saying that although there’s a decent decline in the spread, the public cannot get complacent and feel the need to avoid vaccinations or boosters.

Vaccination for students

Recently, Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, announced that his state would become the country’s first space to enable vaccination for students contributing to the efforts to surpass the pandemic and return to normal lives, considering education institutions have begun to open. However, for those vaccinated, independent study will remain an option for now.
