The Superman in the series, Jon Kent, will fall in love with a male reporter named Jay Nakamura, according to an announcement by DC Comics.

The storyline will show how Jon Kent will be taking over his father Clark as Superman. What’s significant is that DC Comics chose the National Coming Out Day as the day for the announcement. This day is widely celebrated in the country to generate awareness around the LGBTQ+ communities.

Tom Taylor, the writer for the series, shared this news with an add on glimpse where Superman is seen kissing reporter Jay Nakamura. Writer Taylor shared the idea behind this new development on social media saying that this evolution was made keeping in mind several comic fans who related or belong to LGBTQ+ communities. He added that while the character of Superman has always been a symbol of justice, the new series will also bring alive hope and authenticity for the readers so they can relate to their favourite character and feel accepted.
