Texas Governor, Mr. Greg Abbott passed an order directed to the Texas National Guard Soldiers and the Texas Department of Public Safety to arrest any migrants crossing the Texas border without having any legal permission.
The Republican governor mentioned that he took this decision because the Biden government failed to control the day-by-day rising illegal immigration from Mexico.
The Governor as well as the federal authorities noticed that the number of migrants crossing from Mexico to the US is constantly increasing. Abbott held the administration responsible for this as the administration’s strategy ended the Trump-era policy, Title 42. The title 42 policy was issued in March 2020 that allowed rapid expulsion of any unauthorized border seekers citing Covid-19 issues.
In a statement, Abbott said that due to the intent to remove the title 42 policy, the cartels have taken it as an invitation to cross the border without any authorization.
Abbott also talked about the $4 billion operations Lone Star where 10,000 Guard troop has been sent to the border as extended deployments. Texas is also creating a fence on the tract of land where the owners have been authorized to do so. This is done as a counter act to President Biden’s decision to end the construction on the border wall pushed by Trump.
Many migrants have been taken into custody for breaking laws such as trespassing, under Operation Lone Star. Local law enforcement agenesis in assistance with National Guards and DPS has the authority to arrest migrants even if they have not violated any state law.
