Russian Ambassador-Designate Briefs Media- Working on Providing Safe Passage to Indians Stuck At War Zones in Ukraine

The war between Russia and Ukraine gets intense as the former now attacks Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv. Amidst all this, the Russian Ambassador-designate, Denis Alipov addressed the media on 2nd March 2022 and said that Russia is keeping in touch with India on the matter of the safety of Indians in Ukraine. He also conveyed that the safe passage for Indians will be put into place very soon. In the media interaction, he said that they have received many requests from the Indian authorities for emergency evacuation of Indian nationals stuck in Kharkiv and other conflict places of Ukraine.

Russia also said that it is working fiercely to create a humanitarian corridor so that the Indian citizens stuck in the conflict zones of Ukraine can get a safe passage. This media addressing came a day after a 21-year-old Indian student lost his life in the Russia-Ukraine war in Kharkiv. Denis Alipov also expressed his deep condolences on the demise of an Indian student and assured that reason for the death will be probed as Russia has not attacked any residential place till now.

The Russian Ambassador-designate, Denis Alipov in his media addressing also said that India has maintained a balanced position at the UN and Russia is grateful for that. He further added, “We do coordinate our positions at the UN and inform India about our approach”.

The situation is not good in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv as there is constant bombarding going on by the Russian military. The Indian Embassy of Ukraine had also tweeted an advisory on 1st March 2022, asking the Indian nationals to leave Kyiv through any means.
