The latest outage was detected on Friday which caused almost two-hour disruption to Facebook and its services though WhatsApp was not impacted by the disruption.
It seems that the outages issue is still plaguing Facebook as the dominating social media network along with its other services faced yet another outage, albeit shorter than the previous one. Just a couple of days back, Facebook along with WhatsApp and Instagram faced a major outage that lasted for around six hours. However, the latest one lasted for only two hours as the company quickly sprang into action and fixed the issue.
Downdetector.com said that the latest outage was detected on Friday at 3 PM ET as users of Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Instagramstarted facing issues while accessing these services. Facebook, around two hours later, released the statement and said that the outage issue is fixed now and users won’t face any issue in using the services. The reason behind the latest disruption in the services was identified as a change in the configuration settings. It is also emphasized that this particular disruption has nothing to do with the previous outage in the services that users experienced on Monday. While Facebook, Facebook Workplace, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram were impacted by Friday’s outage, WhatsApp was not impacted by this disruption.
This is the second outage faced by users of Facebook and the constellation of services offered by the social media giant. According to experts and analysts, these outages don’t bode well for both the credibility and financial performance of Facebook as billions of users around the globe use the service quite frequently. These outages usually happen because of changes in the configuration or network settings and hence, extra attention must be paid while carrying out this kind of routine upgradation exercise.
