Jerry Harris, who is popularly known for the hit Netflix series ‘Cheer’ has been sentenced to 12 years of federal imprisonment for demanding sex from minors.
As per USA Today reports, the imprisonment came after Harris was found guilty in a sexual assault case of a 15 and 17-year-old, respectively. The 22-year-old Cheer actor sexually assaulted a 15-year-old in the bathroom and also paid a 17-year-old to send him nude photos.
The reality star also admitted to being guilty of performing similar conduct with other minors as well but those charges were dropped against him in a prior plea agreement.
The imprisonment has bought a major fall in the reputation of the star who had once won the hearts of millions with his performance in “Cheer”.
Sarah Klien, who was the attorney to a Texas family who first reported charges against Jerry Harris said that the charges against the star has been established. She further said that the years of sentence provided to Harris is a proof of the severity of crimes that he has performed.
After hearing the judgment, Harris did apologize to his victims and said that he was “selfish and wrong”.
He further also said that he regret his decisions and was sorry for all of his actions. He mentioned that he will try to be a better person further and he pray that one day may be his victims find forgiveness for him in their hearts.
